With Mother's Day coming up I just thought I would share a few tips on how to care for your lovely floral gifts.

Bouquets look beautiful in vases. You can prolong the life of your flowers by cutting the stems every couple of days on a slant (1cm). It's very important to make sure that your flowers new home is clean, there are no leaves in the water and it is displayed away from windows, fires and air conditioning units. Flowers are creatures of nature so they will be happiest in moderate temperatures.

Of course, the easiest way to receive your flowers is already arranged in a box. Florists have more creative control over flowers arranged in a box or container. Their water source is soaked oasis. It is good to put your finger down the inside of the box and feel if it is wet. If it feels a little dry you can top up with about 2cm of water every couple of days.

Top Tips:

Flowers love a quick mist once in a while, so if you have a water spray misting once a day will bring the smile into your arrangement.

Cut flowers have different lifespans so if you notice a flower dying pull it out so it doesn't affect the other flowers.

Some Iris have two heads so be sure to dead head them before throwing them in the bin.

Birds of Paradise have up to 3 flowers, make sure to let them have a lot of sun and dead head the flowers when they are spent. These little beauties can last for up to six weeks with right care.
